GREGG HAMMOND
Since 2007, Gregg Hammond has served the Washington, DC community with more than 5,600 hours of volunteering. He has served as President and Founder of a DC Children’s Music Charity, providing guitars and lessons to underserved communities, including at-risk and foster youth. Gregg’s service as a teacher, teacher’s trainer, administrative executive, fundraising team leader, and events coordinator is valued at over 336,000.00 of service. During Gregg’s volunteering, he has trained more than 175 volunteers, providing and creating additional service hours and serving over 775 children to date. One of Gregg’s favorite service projects is providing performance opportunities for his students and volunteers. He has orchestrated 14 student performances, including local open mic nights and performances on the Howard Theatre Stage, at the Washington Post Conference Center, on Live on Sirius XM satellite radio, and even a performance with Dweezil Zappa (son of legend Frank Zappa). Gregg’s grand VISION is to one day bring the entire globe together to play the same song at the same time. This is how The Global Jam 4 Peace was born. In 2016 the momentem picked up and Gregg was able to acquire the use of the Sylvan Theatre Stage at the Washington Monument. Musicians from around the globe will be joining from around the globe on site and through the miracle of virtual broadcast on many platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram live streams. Musicians from around the globe will be uniting the world in peace and love through the universal language of music playing The Peace Anthem "Set Me Free".
